Inspirational People

“I am proof that disfigurement doesn’t have to destroy lives” - Katie Piper

I have recently began reading the autobiography by Katie Piper detailing her life from her idyllic childhood all the way through her teenage years, and upto the day that changed her life forever.
I think Katie is one of the most inspirational people to ever have walked our planet. I believe this because she is just an ordinary woman who wanted to make the best of her life, and she really did give it a go. From beauty therapy to modelling, you name it Katie didnt let any of it phase her.
The day she was attacked, she was stripped of all of her natural exterior beauty that she and her fans were so proud of, and her life changed forever. The most inspirational part of her story to me, is the fact that after she began to come to terms with what had happend to her, which really wasnt easy, she carried on and began to help others who had either been born with a disfigurment or had been attacked just like herself.

As the years progress I take great pleasure in watching Katies television programmes and reading about how well she is doing; not just with 'The Katie Piper Foundation', but how she is progressing personally.
'The Science Of Seeing Again' is the most touching programme I viewed recently. Katie was told she may be able to regain her eyesight in the eye that was damaged, and I found myself praying that it works for her.

The men that attempted to destroy Katie succeded in the short term, Yes, they took away her natural beauty for a couple of months and made her feel terrified to even look at another man. However she hasnt been defeated and in true Katie style, she has picked herself up from the most horrific experience and she has made something of it.

Advertising Agencies

Ive been looking at a number of websites which belong to different advertising agencies and one of my favourites is one from a company which is very close to home for me.

The company is called BJL and their website is clean cut and easy to follow, which is a handy tool to have at your disposal when looking for the correct company to advertise your product.

Take a look and see what you think!

Unacceptable Ads

Final Destination 5 Poster BANNED.

Some promotional ads can be over the top. Yeah all films have an age certificate, but that doesnt stop the underaged seeing the promotional material...

The advertising watchdog has censored a bus and tube advertising campaign for horror film Final Destination 5 which featured a skull skewered by iron rods, after complaints from parents that the violent image had made their children cry.

Hollywood film studio Warner Bros ran the poster campaign on the London underground and the side of buses to promote the launch of the latest outing for the Final Destination franchise.
The posters featured a skull being shattered with steel rods driven through its mouth and eye sockets, accompanied by the text "It's not if, it's when".

The Advertising Standards Authority received 13 complaints that the poster was distressing and unsuitable to be seen by children. Three of the complainants pointed out that their young children had become visibly upset when they encountered the bus ad.

Warner Bros said the poster "accurately reflected the content of the film in an appropriate manner without causing excessive fear or distress".

The studio said the skull was a "fantasy image", did not feature people, blood or display "any real life or interpersonal violence".

However, the ASA said the image was "likely to catch the attention of children".

Beano Comics

Dennis the Menace: 1980's
Dennis 9I've just been watching Dennis, the live version of Dennis the Menace and it made me think of the Beano franchise.

Its a little before my time, but I remember I used to read them when I was younger. My dad had loads of the originals from the 1980s and I loved them. Its a shame they dont still do them like this, the art direction of the retro Beano is fantastic...

Dennis the Menace
I think that some of the newer Beano comics are too realistic. I know theyre still cartoon so that sounds rediculous, but looking back at the older more original comics, the drawings were so much simpler and less polished. To me that is what a comic book is all about, or it might aswell be a book with real actors in it.
